My 2007 R56 Cooper S

If the eml has been on, there is generally some stored codes.

Was the light on when you scanned it (or did you say the light went off when you switched the ignition off and on again) ?

If you are keeping the car for a while, I'd recommend Carly for BMW and a wifi obd reader. It can read/clear codes and do some basic coding for you such as bulb warning monitoring, some window controls etc etc

It's not cheap but I still say it's worth it (I'm sure Simons discount code was working the last time I looked)

Engine light went off after I had switched off the ignition and switched it back on again. Will be seeing a mate over the weekend who has a Snap-on car computer, that is more detailed than my code reader. That might show up any pending codes.

What sort of price would I be looking at for Carly for BMW?

Have a read of this thread fella

I think it's just under 60€ but if the discount code still works your laughing.

Had Mini connected to my mate's car computer yesterday. Running live data it showed up mis-fire on cylinder number 4. Engine light had come back on in the morning an would'nt go out of limp home mode. Swapped coil pack over an still same issue

So I changed over the spark plugs today as a first step. One plug was different make to the rest when I took them out. New plugs in and started up fine, no missing and good idle. Went for a good drive and it seems fine. Going to have live data done again later just to confirm if everything ok. Also will be changing out the fuel filter this week too.

Had computer on the Mini and live data is all fine. Thankfully no injector issue etc. Spark plugs I took out don't look to clever

Yeh, that plug doesn't look great. Mind I don't think any look on good form. It's a nice fix when a serviceable part does the trick. [emoji1303]

more importantly, why are 3 one make and the other a different make, should always be changed as a matching set. how odd.....

I'm glad it was a serviceable part that fixed the issue [emoji1303]

I've always changed spark plugs as a full set-don't understand why it would'nt be done [emoji848]

Need to look into having a de-coke done. Maybe oil stem seals too (hopefully just de-coke)

I've invested in Carly for BMW and the OBD adaptor. Had a quick go on the Lite version earlier. Think I'll get the Pro version though :good:

On another note-new shoes might be going on my Mini very soon too. Bagged a set of 18" wheels with no tyres off my eldest Son

Still got door handles to be finished off and one or two other bits.

Still got running issues. Front Lambda sensor is faulting out, getting changed in next couple of days. Going to need some headwork too-burning oil. So will be getting head stripped and rebuilt very soon [emoji853]

Thanks for the kind words [emoji1303] Wanted something different on the Mini badges, instead of just being black. Badges not quite finished yet-little bit more to be done.

Handles still to be wrapped gloss black, as is the roof [emoji6]

They are 90mm-bit smaller than the Challenge tailpipes. The exhaust was fitted by Jim Gibbs, who I bought it off ( R&J Developments ). I need to clean/polish it. Its got non-resonated centre. My sports cat downpipe hopefully getting fitted next week [emoji6]

I’ve seen these look good in a solid colour ! Are they gonna be winter wheels, new summer or all year wheels ?

I did want to paint the face of them, but that will be too much for me. Machined face is meant to be awkard to get a good finish. Will be just refurbing the inside gloss black again. They will be summer wheels [emoji6]
