Well when fitting the lowering springs we noticed both top mounts were split so had to order these and get them replaced last night 11cd38e61fa75937beed7fbf89c52a5f.jpg201703 ... c52a5f.jpg"><a href=https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170321/11cd38e61fa75937beed7fbf89c52a5f.jpg' alt='URL>'>

Does anyone know how I can sort this gap between my bonnet and bumper ? ce680c6e4ebbed17f9884fca8939d0ad.jpg201704 ... 39d0ad.jpg"><a href=https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170417/ce680c6e4ebbed17f9884fca8939d0ad.jpg' alt='URL>'>7743ef6e9e630d629ec27115713c12e8.jpg201704 ... 3c12e8.jpg"><a href=https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170417/7743ef6e9e630d629ec27115713c12e8.jpg' alt='URL>'>

I might be wrong but I think that gap is sorted with bumper alignment.

Don't ask me how to do it as I never had to remove a gen 1 bumper (nor my r56 so far).

If I'm right in thinking the catches don't move do they ?

I've not had a good look yet had my work mate look and he said you have to lower the bonnet but that doesnt make sense to me

Most gen 1s seem to have an exaggerated shut line between bonnet and bumper.

If you lower the bonnet (front or back) it upsets the other shut line with the "A" panel

That gap looks pretty standard, there is some minor adjustment available on the bumper at both ends, it sits on a plastic bracket which is held in place by an 8mm hex bolt. If you turn the wheels to gain access to the arches you will see a cut out in the plastic arch liner which is where the bolts are situated to enable the adjustment up or down.

Help needed

Fitted my springs about a month ago but now every time I turn the steering wheel there's a clunk I've had someone have a look as they have said the spring is hitting the body when I turn the wheel but I don't understand why ?

Any advise ?

30mm kw lowering springs by the way

I don't get how they are hitting the body? Can you see where they are hitting? It could be that they are not seated proper, or the top mount may have seized...tricky one that

I'm assuming you didn't note any differences with the springs when you fitted them ?

As Simon asks, where is it catching ?

Has it just started happening ?

Or has a spring snapped

Have you taken air recently ?

Extended the strut and the spring has become dislodged

With the car parked, hand brake on (out of gear) can you roll either of the front wheels forward or backwards ?

Suggesting a bushing issue

I'm sure I remember that if the top Strut isn't built up right or there's washers not fitted back in right sequence, then that too can cause the noise...more good points from Ian there too [emoji1303]
