Various Bits and Bobs all in one Topic!

Recommended Posts

So....I've got a list of things I want to do and have been looking about on the net for things. Can anyone point me to the best places to go for any of the following:-

Front Wiper Arms (Do I have to buy these from MINI as I can only find used ones when searching?)

Spotlights - Mine are currently chrome and suffering from a bad case of rust. Do I A)Go for replacement chrome, B)Go for stainless steel or C)Go for black backed spots? And where best to get em?

Aerial - I still have the stock aerial. What stubby one do you recommend?

Aero body kit rear grille inserts - I have two rear grille type inserts in my body kit and for some reason they're chrome as opposed to the front grilles which are all black. Are there replacement black ones or is it a case of getting em painted up?

Spark Plugs - Best premium ones to go for and where from?

Supercharger pulley - Recommendations

Air Induction Kit - Recommendations

Alloy Wheel Repairs - Si did you mention you knew someone?

I'm sure there'll be other stuff which I haven't thought about yet! Still need to get the breaks, sump and power steering sorted and I like the idea of detailing which JT is looking into for me. Any thoughts or recommendations appreciated.

Cheers

In regards to your spot lights, I wouldn't suggest you buy the £50 black backed ones off eBay, I did and the screws were mild steel and began to rust in a couple of weeks and the rest of the light began to corrode within approx 4 months

Stainless would probably be the way forward but only if they are actually stainless steel (not chrome'd) I wouldn't be suprised if some people are passing chrome'd ones off as stainless.

I couldn't find anywhere locally that sold re right style other than a dealer which were mega money for a pair.

Might be worth trying to get genuine, used.

Cheers Kettlepot, I was thinking of going down the route of black ones! It's gonna be even more expensive for me as I need 4 of the buggers!

Sorry @aggybooya , just read the original post again and i missed something ! I can recommend the Mini JCW stubby aerial. its very short and i experience minimal loss of signal (possibly none at all) compared to the normal. that was on my R50 with aftermarket FM headunit and now on my R56 with DAB (the DAB may not use the aerial, I don't know)

I think Colin ( @Astroboy is a good one to ask about performance mods and if i remember rightly likes his Kav's 17% pulley (worth reading his build thread "the not so hobo express" for confirmation),

We have The Wheel Specialist as a sponsor on the forum and they are in Westerhope, Newcastle.

I'm a great fan of SEM Wheels in Sunderland, run by a famously grumpy bloke that does really good work. I have just paid them £66 (incl VAT) per wheel to refinish my winter wheels in silver, whereas The Wheel Specialist quoted £90.

I used to rent the unit next door to SEM and Angib is spot on with the description. His work is the best out there though :)

I missed the 1320 dyno day and mega mini meet as well due to that. My alta pulley has been flawless :)
