So it seems my works has turned into a proper bargain! Was going through the invoices (which I should have done before paying to be fair) but turns out number two spark plug dropped into the cylinder at speed and took out the piston, block, cylinder head, turbo and cat. This means 20000 mile ago a new engine was fitted by MINI, along with a new turbo and cat. Wow. Well chuffed now :)

That's excellent Si but strangely worrying at the same time, why did a plug drop into the 'pot' ? Not that it matters to you seen as it's got a new engine

Bit of a disaster today. So i had a tiny oil leak from the top turbo feed pipe. Just needed the copper seals replacing. 2 minute job lol. Hmmmmm. After that it put a load of pressure on the main banjo section and blew the seals out of the banjo.....OIL LEAK GALORE! So, even though next week I'm in for the turbo feed recall, I've had to go out and buy a new feed line. The lads at my work are fitting the pipe (which I'm really grateful for) just means I'm MINI-less over night. Ah well, least it did it now, and not while tanking it around lol

New pipe, 30 quid

Bugger. As you say Si, better now than flat out in the middle of no where.

Odd, was the pipe blocked to put pressure on the joint? Replaced the water cooling pipe on mine. Was a right ballache lol

I'd say the heat has killed the rubber seal between the banjo and the pipe...thank god the heat shield is getting added by MINI next Friday really. I knew they got hot, but my god I can see why some S owners have issues

Ah gotcha. Yeah they get red hot. Got my heat shield a few month ago. Probs a bit late like given the mileage!
