  1. About £1200 in total for time so far' date=' fitting engine and to buy the used engine £406 to fit[/quote'] That's still not a bad price to be honest. Are you sticking with a one engine?
  2. Simon let me know about this today when I saw him. I'm a maybe as I've got a couple of things to do tonight so might be a bit later getting there if I come.
  3. Bad luck there Paul but that's a cracking price for an engine! Probably a pretty penny to fit but worth it as your car is immaculate
  4. Really irritating. It's purely bad design and there's no maintenance schedule for them so they're left to go bad really. I phoned Lloyd for parts the other day and it's over a grand. Looks like I'm shelling out at mintech for a recon.
  5. I used to work upstairs in the ropery another lifetime ago
  6. Wow that's a mess! Especially for low miles. Would guess it's had something spilled on it that's caused that to corrode like that? And totally agree about the £100 charge. When my sunroof went bad a couple of weeks ago mini in Eastleigh tried to charge me that for diagnosis even though the problem was plain to see. They fixed it for the same price in the end and then told me I needed 2 new front shockers despite one of them being 4 weeks old. Lloyd are probably the best local dealers. Try and speak with Katie as she is the most reasonable and knowledgeable I've dealt with since that Simon lad from coopers in Durham. Whatever happened to him[emoji39]
  7. Yes, I've got some you can borrow if you can collect from Team Valley? They're works spoke R112 reps with winter tyres
  8. Meh, I clobber it with miles and its 9 years old so I expect things to go wrong to be honest. I won't buy a new mini as they've priced themselves out of my range so I'll just keep this one going until I get sick of it or blow it up. The only other real issue with it is the boost pressure dropping out which I think is the turbo wastegate, so really all in inc decoke I need to chuck about £1500 at it and then wait for the next problems lol
  9. Well the inevitable happened this week with the flimsy R56 sunroof and hot weather. The thing managed to let go and according to mini in Eastleigh needs replacement. They did manage to get it down as typically it got stuck half up and half down. Don't suppose anybody has had experience of getting one replaced? Looking at mintech in bury as they seem to do full cassette replacement for £650. Obviously I would rather go somewhere in the northeast if anybody has any recommendations? Would prefer to avoid mini garages due to cost. Sticking a £1500 sunroof onto a car that's worth less than double that doesn't make sense.
  10. Winner winner chicken casserole. I'll give you a shout after my week off
  11. FFS it's mystery boost related 2885 check engine problem is back. It's been absolutely fine for six months and as soon as the warm weather is back so is this issue. I still thinks it's the turbo wastegate sticking as there's no visible sign of a problem with any of the pipes. Might try DW auto works in blaydon unless anyone has any recommendations?
  12. Did you get a price sorted with your manager Simon?
  13. Try it and see how you feel. As above Andy and Greig are both running one without problems. It could have been something specific to mine, especially the amount of emulsified oil/condensation mixture it was getting.
  14. I had a couple of problems when I ran a catch can. Firstly it does something to the vacuum system and the car lost power and increased fuel consumption. Not huge amounts but it became noticeable. After the catch can was removed it returned to normal. Secondly even with the catch can the car was still pulling emulsified water through. Mine used to fill up very quickly after getting hot and cold and air condensing. It made a real mess out of a set of spark plugs. For me it just ended up easier running without. Intresting what catch can was you using? Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk The Saikou Michi one like this http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e190/alextwo/IMG_3542_zpsff1e99b1.jpg' alt='URL>'>
